Tenor Aaron Blake is establishing himself as a major operatic talent. A graduate of the Juilliard School and Rice University, Mr. Blake has appeared in numerous leading roles including Nemorino in L’elisir
d’amore, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, il Contino Belfiore in
La finta giardiniera, Sam Kaplan in Street
Scene, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Tamino in
Die Zauberflöte, Romeo in Romeo et Juliette, and Sir Hervey in
Anna Bolena. He has sung with leading opera companies throughout the United States, including the Dallas Opera, Opera San Jose, and the Utah Opera. Highlights of Mr. Blake’s 2011–12 season include Idamante with Opera San Jose, Nemorino with Utah Opera, and Arturo with the Dallas Opera.
Aaron Blake is a first prize winner of the 2005 Florida Grand Opera competition, winner of the 2005 Concerto competition at the Aspen Music Festival, the 2009 Brena Hazzard Grant winner, and a 2010 recipient of the prestigious Bagby Career Grant. Tonight marks both his Carnegie Hall and Oratorio Society debuts.
