Acclaimed for his versatility in both opera and concert, tenor
William Ferguson is acknowledged as one of today’s most promising young performers. His recent performances include with the Metropolitan Opera as Beppe in
Pagliacci, Santa Fe Opera as Caliban in the U.S. premiere of Thomas
Ades’ The Tempest, Opera Australia as Truffaldino in
Love For Three Oranges, New York City Opera as Candide, as well as major roles in
Mikado and L’Etoile, Opera Omaha in the world premiere of
Wakonda’s Dream, Opera Festival of New Jersey as Andres in
Wozzeck, and Opera Theatre of St. Louis in both Miss Havisham’s Fire and
Hippolyte et Aricie.
Winner of the 2007 Oratorio Society of New York Solo Competition, Mr. Ferguson has appeared with the American Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (England), Houston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra of New York, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s, among others. In addition, the Marilyn Horne Foundation and the New York Festival of Song have presented him in recital. In 2003, he received Alice Tully Vocal Arts Debut Recital award granting him a recital in Alice Tully Hall. Tonight marks his Oratorio Society debut.
