The Oratorio Society of New York brings together a diverse community of avocational singers who share a passion for choral music. Our mission is to contribute to the cultural fabric of New York City through public performance of both classic and contemporary choral works at the highest musical standards. We are committed to the musical development of members, audience and artists. 

We achieve this mission by:

• Presenting repertoire that introduces audiences to new or underperformed works 
  in addition to the traditional choral masterworks
  
• Performing Handel’s Messiah annually, a highly acclaimed New York tradition 
  since 1874
  
• Promoting the art of Oratorio Singing by sponsoring an annual solo competition 
  that has helped to launch the careers of many singers
  
• Offering access to choral music through educational programs 
  
• Expanding the Society’s outreach through international performances
  
• Providing a joyful musical environment for all performers
